Getting a quote

Q. I’d like to get a quote… how can I get my photo to you?

You can send a photo by email, mail a CD or mail the original photo.
If you have any questions and requirements please email or phone.

Send Photo by Email

With every photo restoration and/or retouch, whatever is required to produce the best possible result is done. If you would like your photo(s) quoted via email:

        1. Please provide any ‘special’ instructions of what you would like done to your photo (eg. move couple closer together).
If you would like a CD of your restoration sent to you or any other requirements including prints and quantity.
    1. Attach your scanned photo(s) or digital file.

Send digital photographs as ‘file attachments’, not as ‘photo attachments’ as this compresses the file and removes detail necessary for restoration.

Attach only one or two photos per email, unless you are certain that your Internet Service Provider will permit you to send very large emails. If you can’t sent via regular email, it is possible to send your large photo file using a free, no registration, file transfer service like sendspace.com.

Copyright Laws:

By sending a digital image you certify that you own the copyright and/or have permission of the copyright owner to modify the photo. The creator of a photo (the photographer) is the copyright owner.

Q. What is the ordering process?

  • After receiving your photo, you will receive an email invoice quote
  • You will email ‘okay’ for restoration of the photo. With a quote of over $50.00 a 50% deposit is required before work will commence.
  • A watermarked version of the completed photo will be emailed to you
  • If you are happy with the watermarked version, and the invoice has been paid in full, the un-watermarked version of the photo is emailed to you.

Q. What about Privacy?

Your privacy is respectfully assured. Your photograph and information are guaranteed to be completely private and will not be used in any way other than you agree to, as the copyright of your photo remains yours. The photo(s) are retained in an archive file and named as a numbered file only.

Q. How do I email a photo?

To email any type of file using Microsoft Outlook, but most e-mail programs work the same way;

  • Open your e-mail program, launch a new message window and compose your message.
  • Click the attachment icon (the paper clip) or insert the file by selecting from the drop-down menu.
  • Browse your hard drive or removable disks to locate the file you want to attach. Click it to highlight the name, then click the Insert button.
  • An icon or message should now appear indicating that the file has been attached.
  • Finally, click the Send button.

Q. I don’t have a scanner… where can I have it done?

Your local graphic design or sign shop or photo lab might provide this service. Ask for your photo to be scanned at 300 dpi (if it is a very small photo, scanned at 300% its size). Put it on your USB flash drive, or they may be able to burn it onto a CD.

How is my photo scanned?

The original photo is placed on a scanner and a digital image is acquired. This process does not damage your photo as the light passes over it briefly. It is now a digital image file, just like the photos that you would have if taken with a digital camera and downloaded to your computer.

Mail a Photo on a CD or Original Photo

If you would like a quote via mail you can send your photo on a CD.
If sending precious original photo(s) via Australia Post, select a service ensuring the parcel will need to be signed for on delivery. To prevent damage and bending during transit, pack well with thick rigid cardboard on both sides of the photo(s) and tightly secure with tape.

With every photo restoration and/or retouch, whatever is required to produce the best possible result is done. Please provide the following:
1. Any ‘special’ instructions for your photo (eg. move couple closer together).
2. If you would like a restoration CD sent to you or any other requirements such as prints and quantity.
3. Please include your details including email address and telephone number so you can be contacted with a quote.
If sending original photos, include the same size pre-paid Registered Mail self-addressed envelope for return of your photo(s).
